Ways to Spend a Park Free Day

Lots of people that plan a trip to Disney World leave a day or two open with no plans to visit any of the four theme parks.  Sometimes this day begins or ends the holiday,  or it could just be a day for a break.  In either case, you have lots of alternatives at your disposal.

  1. You could "resort hop" to check out other resorts to see the theme and sample some food if desired.   With free Disney transportation at your disposal,  this is a very cheap way to enjoy a day.  You can even do this if staying on site in a non Disney hotel, or by parking at one of the resorts or Disney Springs.
  2. Spend a day in Disney Springs with all its wonderful shops including the huge and amazing World of Disney,  many mouth watering restaurants and quick service dining stops, a daily dance party and water splash area, bowling alley, movie theatres, Cirque du Soleil show, air balloon ride and more.
  3. Relax by your resort or hotel's pool.  The Disney Resort pools are themed, and other hotels have beautiful pool areas including special features or slides for kids.  And you can usually order food to eat poolside.
  4. Go shopping at one of several large Outlet Malls.  Some on and off site hotels have shuttle service,  but if you don't have a car, you could always take a cab.
  5. Head to one of the two WDW waterparks,  Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.  They are not included as parks, but they can be added on to your tickets for an additional fee.  They are a fun way to cool off inside the Magic.  You can get there via Disney transportation if staying on site.
  6. Disney World offers numerous opportunities to golf.  You can reserve course tee off times through your Disney Resort or DSRA hotel or by calling the WDW Resort directly.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        To read more Disney World planning tips blog posts, click here.
