Ten Tips for Selecting Fastpasses (Updated)

Here are ten tips to help you select Fastpasses in Walt Disney World.
  1. Fastpasses can be booked through the My Disney Experience website or app up to 60 days in advance with a Disney Resort reservation,  or 30 days ahead with a Park ticket.   Take advantage of these opportunities if you can.
  2. You can make up to three Fastpass selections from one park each day that you have a park ticket through My Disney Experience.   Any others after the first three are made through the park kiosks or My Disney Experience one at a time.
  3. All Fastpasses must have been used or have time expired before selecting a  new one.
  4. Not everyone in your group must have the same Fastpasses.
  5. You can switch Fastpasses from one attraction to another as many times as you like,  even while in the park, if a Fastpass is available for the attraction or ride that you want.
  6. The app or website, My Disney Experience will give you up to the moment wait times for the rides, and you can use that to gauge which of your favourite rides most require a Fastpass.
  7. My Disney Experience will give you the chance to choose from available times for each Fastpass, and no longer group them together, You can change the time of any Fastpass if there is another available time that you prefer.  My Disney Experience does not coordinate Fastpass times with your dining reservations.  You have to adjust the Fastpass time yourself to schedule your meals.
  8. If a ride or attraction doesn't come up at all, then a Fastpass isn't available for it for the day you are selecting.  Fastpasses are available for character greetings such as Elsa and Anna, Cinderella and Rapunzel, and they go very quickly!
  9. You can make Fastpass choices for others that are not on your reservation, as long as you both agree to allow each other to do so through My Disney Experience.
  10. There are Fastpasses for reserved viewing spots for parades and fireworks shows (although this apparently may change).  Keep in mind that if it is an evening show, you will pretty much have only two other Fastpasses to use for other attractions or rides, as you are not allowed to choose a new one until the third one, in this case your parade or fireworks show, has expired or been used.
