The Discounted Park Tickets for Canadians

I  apologize in advance that this post is directed specifically at my fellow Canadians.  But both from speaking with friends and reading and responding to posts in the great Facebook group, Canadian Disney Addicts, there seems to be some confusion or misunderstanding about what the Disney World 25% off discounted tickets for Canadian residents offer is, and its rules.  So I am going to try to clarify the discount as best as I can.

First of all, it is a great deal!  I never recall there being a similar 25% off ticket discount in recent years.   It may have stemmed from the low Canadian dollar, but who knows? Originally the offer was only until the end of February, but has since been extended until May 20th.  The tickets do not have an expiry date, and are valid for up to 14 days from its first use.  You are given a certificate for each person, which you then take to a park ticket office or the Disney Springs customer service, along with your Canadian passport, to receive your park passes.  Your passes must be for at least 4 days to get the discount, but you can only go to one park each day.  This does not mean that you must go to all four different parks, but you cannot park hop unless you buy the upgrade.

With the discounted tickets, you are still eligible for room only discounts, just not for the Free Dining Promotion, as everything in your package needs to be non discounted to be eligible for this.   The amazing thing right now is that as of February 26th, the prices for the Canadian discounted park tickets on the WDW website had not gone up, even though regular park ticket prices had in mid February, so now the discount is closer to 30%!  Another way to save even further is to buy your certificates at a CAA office, as members save another $5 US per person.  CAA  also charge in Canadian dollars, with an exchange rate that is sometimes lower than your credit card's one.  And they give you the plastic card certificates right away.

You can hook up your certificates to the MyDisney Experience app or website to enable early Fastpass selections, but it would be at 30 days ahead.  Only a Disney Resort reservation allows you to choose them at the 60 day mark.   Each ticket is connected on MDE to a specific person, so if you purchased for kids aged 3 to 9, make sure their certificates are matched with them.  My understanding is that if are staying in a Disney Resort, you will be able to add your park passes on to your Magic Bands once your certificates have been traded in.

This is an offer that certainly warrants consideration.  I will update this post if any new information is available.
