Breakfast Options for Walt Disney World

It is not only considered healthy. but common sense to start your day with a good breakfast.  The dilemma while at Disney World,  is to do this while getting off to an early start in the parks.  Here are some suggestions on how to do both.

  1. Whether staying on or off site, you could buy basic groceries such as cereal, bread, peanut butter, and milk to have simple breakfasts each morning, while saving money at the same time.   In WDW, you can order from Garden Grocer or Dizzy Dolphin and have it delivered to you at your resort.   Just be sure that your room or suite has a fridge.   The resort will keep those items needing it refrigerated until your arrival. We used Garden Grocer and found their service and the food quality to be very good.
  2. The resorts have either a food court (Value Resorts), quick service dining, or coffee shops to grab a quick bite.  The Food Courts can become crowded, and are Disney prices, but most reviewers say both the food and choices are good.  And most resorts and hotels have Grab 'n Go kiosks or shops to quickly take away baked goods, sandwiches, and beverages.
  3. Make a reservation for a breakfast full service dining experience either at your resort, in a park (such as Crystal Palace or Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom), or close by (Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort on the monorail).  This places you very close or right in a park at opening.  This option does take some planning as you need to coordinate your breakfast location with your (first) park for that day.  Dining reservations can be made 180 days in advance online or by phone.
  4. You could eat breakfast immediately after entering into a park.  There are bakeries, quick service food outlets, and coffee stands with breakfast sandwiches, muffins, and other baked goods available to nosh on.  The downside to this option is that it partially nullifies the advantage of entering the park early.    There are Starbucks (although from the outside you might not know) in each park, and they accept Starbucks gift cards (at par for Canadians as far as I could tell).
  5. Disney Resorts such as Coronado offer Club Level for a small additional per night  fee.  Not only do you get a better room with Club Level, but a Continental breakfast is included for each morning of your stay.
  6. If you are located in a Resort or an on site hotel near Disney Springs,  just walk or take the ferry over to grab breakfast at such quick service establishments as Earl of Sandwich.  Then head to the Disney Springs  transportation hub to catch a bus over to any of the parks.
  7. If you are staying at a Disney Springs Resort Area hotel, or even off site, breakfast might be included or offered as part of a package.  We stayed at the Holiday Inn, one of the seven DSRA hotels, and our package included a fantastic buffet breakfast each morning for all four of us.  I would fill up with a take out coffee for the bus ride to the park.  Mickey waffles were even a choice on the buffet.  It was a great way to start our day!  Other chains such as Embassy Suites or Hampton Inn always include a hot breakfast.
